978A-C 'Massacre of the Innocents', painted ceiling, Sweden, late 13th century

Although one of the warriors on this painted ceiling has an up-to-date great helm (B), neither figure seems to have mittens on their long-sleeved mail hauberks. Both wear mail chausses. Shields are now smaller (B and C), flat-topped, and almost triangular.
