Legend of the 12th century Crusade of Erik IX of Sweden to Finland accompanied by the english born Bishop Henry of Uppsala.
on Henry's brass monument in the church of Nousiainen, south-western Finland, c.1415-20.



On the right panel - two Swedish ships carrying King Erik and troops, Bishop Henry and priests, approach the shore defended by pagan Finnish troops with a cannon and a pagan idol.

On the left panel - above, King Erik defeats the Finns; below, Bishop Henry baptises Finns who had thrown down or broken their weapons.

Nousiainen (Swedish: Nousis) is in Varsinais-Suomi in Finland
