Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Asunción

La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, en Sequera de Fresno, se ubica dentro del caserío de la localidad, actualmente perteneciente a la Tierra de Riaza al noreste de la provincia de Segovia.

Aunque existen algunas dudas al respecto de su cronología, suele aceptarse la primera mitad del siglo XIII como probable época de construcción, atribución dada especialmente gracias a su escultura, ya que no se conserva documentación textual fiable. En el siglo XVI se añadió la torre y a lo largo del siglo XVIII fue objeto de importantes reformas que alteraron especialmente el acceso principal, la nave y el sistema de cubiertas.

Our Lady of the Assumption Church

The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, in Sequera de Fresno, is located within the village of the locality, currently belonging to the municipality of Riaza in the northeast of the province of Segovia.

Although there are some doubts regarding its chronology, the first half of the 13th century is usually accepted as a probable time of construction, an attribution given especially thanks to its sculpture, since reliable textual documentation is not preserved. In the 16th century the tower was added and throughout the 18th century it underwent important reforms that especially altered the main access, the nave and the roof system.
