Rear-Admiral Sir Arthur F. E. Palliser


Sir Arthur Francis Eric Palliser (K.O.B) was a son of Arthur Palliser and Hester Brenda Boord.

He married in 1921 with Margaret Eva, daughter of J. J. King Salter and raised one son and one daughter.

He was educated at Bradfleld College; R.N. Colleges, Dartmouth and Greenwich.

He became Midshipman, 1907; Admiral, 1947; Chief of Staff to Commander-in-Chief China, 1936-1938; H.M.S. Excellent, 1938-1940; H.M.S. Malaya, 1940-1941; A.D.C. to the King, 1940-1941; Chief of Staff to Commander-in-Chief of Eastern Fleet, 1941-1942; served at New Delhi, 1942-1943; commanded 1st Cruiser Squadron, 1943-1944; a Lord Commissioner of the Admiralty and Chief of Supplies and Transport, 1944-1948; Commander-in-Chief of East Indies Station, 1946-1948.

He was put on retired list in 1948.

He died on 22 February 1950.

His awards include (Companion of the (Order of the) Bath 1943), created 1945 and Distinguished Service Order 1917.
