Códice De Trajes, 1547
Irish Piper & Warrior
A larger image of Irish Piper & Warrior, Códice De Trajes, 1547.
Both figures are wearing a Léine, the long shirt like tunic, with very baggy sleeves. The piper is armed with a long skein. The warrior has a javelin with thong, a sword and a skein in a scabbard attached to the sword scabbard.
The arm harness is reminiscent of that worn in Irish warriors, 'DRAVN AFTER THE QVICKE' and carried in Irish as they stand accoutred being at the service of the late King Henry, by Lucas d'Heere
