68 HBs of VIII BC strike Saint-Nazaire U-boat base in first attack on that installation since 23 Nov 42, and the heaviest attack to date against submarine bases. There is heavy ftr opposition, and German flak is thrown up in an effective predirected barrage rather than in the usual attempt to track the bmrs. 7 aircraft are lost and 47 damaged; 70 men are missing and 5 killed.

Finding no aircraft there, the MBs and ftrs attack town of Lashio. This is last raid by CATF before fuel shortage grounds the ftrs for the remainder of the month and the MBs for 33 days.
