Long ago in Ribela there was a Benedictine monastery. Now only the church remains and it is dedicated to the Virgin.
There are five altars in the church, and one is consecrated to the Virgin.
Linseed oil is burned in the lamps before all the other altars.
But, only clear, pure, olive oil is burned before the Virgin’s altar.
It was the custom for people to try to light the lamp with other oils. But the light would always go out right away.
The people of Ribela do not dare to burn any other oil there.
