Cantiga 112 of the Cantigas de Santa Maria of Alfonso X
The Ship whose Crew and Cargo were Preserved
A ship from Collioure was loaded with wheat and barley.
It was struck by a storm. The mast and rudder broke and the people on board escaped in lifeboats.
They saw the abandoned ship split apart and the grain soaked.
They asked the Virgin to save the cargo and promised her a great offering.
She caused the ship to come safely to port.
The people, who had rowed to shore, saw that the Virgin had saved the grain and they praised her.
