Pintures murals de la conquesta de Mallorca, 1285-1290
Detail of bottom left of right section
Battle of Porto Pi, 12th September 1229

Moors riding out to war beneath their characteristic war flags. They are lightly armoured compared with the Christian knights in chain mail.

Referenced on p.39, The Moors - The Islamic West - 7th-15th Centuries AD by David Nicolle:
a wall-painting of the conquest of Majorca by King Jaime I of Aragon, made in the late 13th century and including accurate representations of Moorish troops, though from the time of the artist rather than the actual conquest.
(C) Andalusian cavalry, three of whom wear mail armour beneath their tunics. Note also the two contrasting flags - one with an Arabic inscription panel, and the other using a geometric motif as in Christian Spanish heraldry. (Museo de Artes de Cataluna, Barcelona, Spain)
